What does “Clothing” mean to you?
For me, clothing is very much connected with self expression, not always linked to other people’s perception of me but rather to how I am feeling, how I need to feel, and how I know it can make me look for myself, too.
I have sensitive skin, so clothing also means comfort, it means I need to wear soft fabrics and natural fibres when I can. I am interested in clothing being historical and culturally significant as much as I am interested in it representing craft and innovation too. Colour is definitely an important part of my decision making when it comes to wearing clothes, but a silhouette is what ultimately creates an allure. It is the line that draws a sense of grace, protection or perhaps even power. Then the textures and colours add depth to it.

What does “Contemporary Life” mean to you?
It is about how we connect with each other and with a more collective sense of culture in time. To me, contemporary life is always changing and shifting - we call that the zeitgeist - for better or worse. There are some things I would prefer to keep from the past - practices and customs, aesthetics and ideas - but there are many things that modernity and contemporary culture represent that we all take for granted and that make life much easier. Technology, medicine, travel - these are all efficient, advanced parts of our contemporary existence that allow us the luxury to enjoy other things and help others to do the same.
What are the things you are thinking about lately?
I’m thinking about value and how what we do, make, promote, and make space for can bring true beauty, utility and empathy into the world. This can relate to fashion and design but also the way we relate to media, food, wellness, friendships and more. As Dieter Rams said, “Less but better”.
